National Schools’ Regatta to offer enhanced live stream coverage at Dorney Lake
April 22, 2026
This year’s National Schools’ Regatta will, once again, bring all the action to spectators around the world. The Regatta, will be working with Onside Productions who will deliver live streaming broadcast capturing every moment of racing across the full 2,000m course at Dorney Lake.
Rowing at Dorney Lake demands precision, endurance, and perfect synchronisation. Delivering a world-class live stream requires exactly the same attention to details. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, Elston Consulting and Hudson Boat Works UK, this year’s broadcast will feature an outside broadcast (OB) infrastructure designed to track every stroke, split time, and photo finish. Onside Productions will be working closely with our race timing provider TimeTeam to seamlessly deliver visuals and timing data to the screen.
To cover the full length of the course, the production will deploy over 12 kilometres of fibre optic cable, ensuring seamless, zero-latency communication from the start pontoons all the way back to the central OB hub. Viewers can expect stunning aerial perspectives from two heavy-lift broadcast drones, offering sweeping views of the venue alongside tactical overhead shots that reveal race dynamics such as lane spacing and boat overlap.

Five strategically placed cameras along the course, positioned at key 500m intervals, will provide comprehensive race coverage, including super slow-motion footage at both the start and finish. These will be complemented by live telemetry graphics, bringing real-time split times and race data directly to the screen as the action unfolds.
Behind the scenes, a team of more than 15 broadcast professionals, including drone pilots, camera operators, live sports directors, and graphics engineers, will work in unison to deliver a polished, engaging viewing experience.
This live stream ensures that friends, family, and rowing enthusiasts around the world can follow every race, every crew, and every moment of the National Schools’ Regatta in detail.
Further information about how to watch the live stream will be released ahead of the event so make sure you sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know what is going on.
