Chairman's newsletter - January 2025

With 2025 well under way and having come through the twists and turns of the January storms, many young athletes will be venturing out on to the water once more in preparation for the Spring Head of the River Races across the country and enjoying the opportunity to compete. As the days get longer, bit by bit, and the weather calms (we hope) this is a great time to be training and developing boat skills and boat moving – together. Enjoy it!

As you can imagine, the NSR Committee and others have been working over the past few months on planning for our regatta in May and the return to the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. Although many on the committee and the coaches know the set up well, having attended the regatta there for many years in the past, it will be a new venue to many. 

Working in partnership with the NWSC staff and their contractors, we are finalising our site and facility planning, taking lessons learned from our time at Eton Dorney, as we bring together the key elements of a successful NSR. We will keep you informed through a series of newsletters over the next few months. We also hope to launch our new re-vamped website in time for the regatta this year.

With that in mind, tomorrow is February 1st! An important day in the calendar of National Schools’ Regatta. Bookings for School/Club Gazebo and Marquee slots opens at 11.00am on Saturday February 1st.
