We welcome over 100 NSR volunteers to the 2019 regatta!
National Schools’ Regatta sees a record entry with over 5000 thousand 14 – 18 year olds racing over three days. The 30 hours of racing would not be possible without support from our amazing volunteer teams. Their hard work ensures the smooth running of the regatta.
Our volunteers don’t just do the work – they make it work!
Chairman, George Hammond and his committee are supported by over 100 NSR volunteers. The team come from within the sport of rowing and the local community of Windsor and Slough.
“NSR could not operate without the time and energy given so generously by every single volunteer. Everyone works incredibly long hours with such dedication and care. Everyone ensures our competitors, their coaches and spectators have a first rate experience. This regatta has a special appeal to everyone who is part of it. I look forward to working with our youngest and newest volunteers and welcoming back our regulars again this year.” says George.
The Duke of Edinburgh team from Windsor Boys’ School and students from Holyport College will be close to the racing. The team will align boats, time races and work under pressure to keep the crews calm and ready to go. All of this overseen by the brilliant Umpire Team whose priority is safe and fair racing for the crews. The racing will be filmed by volunteers from the local schools with the commentary delivered by a highly professional team drawn from across the country. The energetic design and sales team who run the NSR Regatta Shop will open the store on all three days. All these groups coordinated by George and his volunteer committee.
